Simba Eyes Semifinal Spot After Al Masry Defeat

Simba Vows to Break Quarterfinal Barrier in CAF Confederation Cup

Simba SC has firmly declared its intention to break the cycle of quarterfinal exits in African interclub competitions, with the club setting its sights on reaching the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup.

After suffering a 2-0 defeat to Al Masry in the first leg of the quarterfinals held on April 2, 2025, at the Suez Canal Stadium in Egypt, the Tanzanian giants now face a do-or-die second leg at home. The crucial return fixture is scheduled for April 9, 2025, at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

This match will complete the 180 minutes of action that determine which team advances to the semifinals of the prestigious continental tournament.

Simba’s Head of Information and Communication, Ahmed Ally, emphasized the club's readiness to overcome past disappointments and change the narrative.

"We've endured painful exits at the quarterfinal stage in recent campaigns, and we are determined not to let history repeat itself. This time, we are prepared and have a squad full of real fighters," said Ally.

He added that the technical bench is already addressing the mistakes from the first leg and focusing on strengthening the team ahead of the decisive clash.

“Mistakes made in Egypt are behind us. The technical team is working diligently to fix those issues. This is not the time to point fingers—we must unite and support each other to secure the results we need,” Ally stated.

Simba’s pursuit of a semifinal berth represents not only a chance to redeem past setbacks but also a step closer to continental glory, as the club looks to assert its status among Africa’s elite football institutions.
