Power of Offering: Reconnect with God Today

Offering Has Power to Reconcile with God and Break Bondage

Sunday, April 6, 2025

Praise the Lord Jesus. By the grace of God, I am once again honored to share with you an important teaching on the spiritual significance of offering.

Many Christians today misunderstand the purpose and practice of giving. While we do give offerings, some of us spend more time criticizing how ministers might use them. Others focus solely on the amount being given, without truly understanding to whom the offering is being made.

It is crucial to realize that any offering—regardless of its size—is ultimately directed to God, not to the person receiving it. Even when a servant of God stands before you, it is the living God who receives your gift. Therefore, when you give, connect spiritually with God and declare what you desire the offering to accomplish in your life. God does not look at the amount, but at the intentions and words that accompany your gift.

A Biblical Foundation for Offerings

In Genesis 22:1–14, we are given a profound example of sacrificial obedience. Abraham built an altar, arranged the wood, bound his son Isaac, and laid him upon it. As he prepared to sacrifice him, the angel of the Lord called out from heaven, stopping him:

“Do not lay a hand on the boy,” the angel said. “Now I know that you fear God.”

This act reveals that offerings connect our hearts to God, demonstrating trust, obedience, and love.

Similarly, in Genesis 14:17–20, after Abraham’s victory over King Kedorlaomer and his allies, Melchizedek, King of Salem and priest of the Most High God, brought out bread and wine and blessed him:

“Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.”

These passages highlight the spiritual power of offerings in building divine connection, receiving blessings, and expressing gratitude.

What Is an Offering?

An offering is a form of thanksgiving or a prayerful petition made to God. It is given either in gratitude for what God has done or in hope of what one is believing God to do. It is a spiritual transaction—an act of worship—that links the giver to the divine treasury of heaven. When given with the right heart, an offering becomes more powerful than any material possession, transforming into a blessing.

Why Should We Give Offerings?

1. Offerings Belong to God
According to Leviticus 27:30,

“A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.”

This verse affirms that what we give is not ours to keep—it is sacred and rightfully belongs to God.

2. Offerings Bring Redemption and Reconciliation
In Leviticus 16:20–21, we see the high priest Aaron performing a sacred ritual:

He lays both hands on the head of a live goat, confesses over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites, and places the sins upon the animal.

This powerful act of substitution shows that offerings can serve as a form of spiritual atonement, carrying the weight of sin and transgression away from the people and onto the sacrificial object.

In today’s context, this reveals that offerings can still serve to cleanse, redeem, and reconcile us with God, provided they are given with sincere repentance and faith.

Modern Misconceptions

Today, many people seek answers from witch doctors and spiritual mediums, being asked to offer money, belongings, or even loved ones to receive blessings or protection. These are counterfeit solutions.

As a believer in the one true God—the source of life—you are not called to such practices. Christ Himself was the ultimate offering, sacrificed on the cross so that all may find healing and forgiveness.

Therefore, do not turn to worldly powers for help. Instead, draw near to God through your offerings, surrendering yourself fully to Him and trusting in His divine provision.

A Call to Action

It is my earnest prayer today that you choose to turn away from wrong paths and stand firm in faith. In the name of the living Jesus Christ, present your offering to God—not merely as a transaction, but as a sacred act of devotion.
