Job Summary

The Controller for Trust Operations and Account Management holds a pivotal position within MobileMoney LTD’s Finance department, overseeing financial aspects related to trust operations and account management. This role involves managing trust accounts, implementing financial controls, and ensuring regulatory compliance to safeguard customer assets and maintain financial transaction integrity. Reporting to the Trust Operations Manager, the Controller plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, optimizing financial performance, and fostering trust and confidence among stakeholders in a dynamic mobile money environment.

Job Role

  • Timely and Accurate generation of electronic money (e-cash) to Vendors, Agents, Merchants, Partners, Banks, etc.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including customers, regulators, and auditors, to ensure transparency and trust in financial operations.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to the Trust Operations Manager based on analysis of financial data and trends.
  • Prepare and analyse financial reports and performance metrics related to trust operations and account management.
  • Preparation of timely and accurate MoMo Interest Pay Out Schedules
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of MoMo Float Exposure Monitor & Analysis Schedules.
  • Ensure timely and accurate movements/transfers of e-cash between accounts for partners, merchants, Agents, etc. (Intra & Inter Accounts).
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of trust operations to identify areas for improvement and strengthen internal controls.
  • Coordinate Audit Confirmation for External Auditors on Trust Accounts.
  • Coordinate timely and accurate confirmation of Account Balances for Banks, Service Providers, Merchants, etc.
  • Ensure accurate calculations of interests on Mobile Money Floats with Partner Banks.
  • Monitor Mobile Money Interest Accounts to ensure Partner Bank compliance with agreed timelines for Interest Credits.
  • Prepare and capture journals for E-Cash & Revenue Liquidations and liaise with responsible teams for booking on ORACLE.
  • Prepare month end reports on Trust Accounts.
  • Ensure Dormant Accounts Movements/Investments & Reporting are performed timely and accurately.
  • Prepare forecasts for Float /Trust operations.
  • Coordinate Partner Bank Risk Assessment information requests for timely reporting.
  • Complete or rollback Customer pending transactions/payments on ECW initiated by the Finance support team per process.
  • Timely escalate system (ECW & Daas) challenges with IT and Operation teams for quick resolutions.
  • Prepare reports periodically according to reporting deadlines.
  • Participate in the implementation of controls to mitigate risks and prevent financial losses or errors.
  • Implement effective Documents Management.
  • Undertake other related duties that are assigned by Line Manager from time to time.

Education

  • Minimum of a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional certification would be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role with a focus on trust operations and account management.
  • Experience in Fintech, banking or Telecom is preferred.
  • Experience working in a global/multinational enterprise with a good understanding in emerging markets is preferred.
