About Company

The Uganda Refugee Resilience Initiative (URRI) is a Danish-funded, five-year development program (2024–2028) aimed at enhancing the resilience and self-reliance of refugees and host communities in Uganda. With a budget of approximately USD 40 million (UGX 145 billion), URRI addresses challenges such as climate change, displacement, and gender inequality by promoting climate-smart agriculture, sustainable environmental management, and gender-responsive approaches .

Key Objectives

  • Climate Resilience and Adaptation: Implementing climate-smart agriculture training to improve food security and livelihoods.

  • Environmental Sustainability: Promoting sustainable management of natural resources to prevent degradation and enhance biodiversity.

  • Gender Equality and Empowerment: Strengthening the rights and empowerment of women and youth in refugee and host communities .

Implementation Structure

URRI is executed through two consortia:

  • Save the Children-led Consortium: Operating in Adjumani, Lamwo, and Kyegegwa districts, with partners including World Vision Uganda, AVSI Foundation, Kabarole Research and Resource Centre (KRC), Uganda Network on Law, Ethics and HIV/AIDS (UGANET), Youth Social Advocacy Team (YSAT), and Uganda Response Innovation Lab (U-RIL).

  • Danish Refugee Council-led Consortium: Working in Yumbe, Obongi, Moyo, Madi Okollo, Terego, and Koboko districts, alongside DanChurchAid, Community Empowerment for Rural Development (CEFORD), Partners in Development and Center for Holistic Transformation (PICOT), and PALM Corps .
