About Company

The Uganda Health Professions Assessment Board (UHPAB) is a statutory body established in 2025 under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Act and operationalized by Statutory Instrument No. 25 of 2025. This formation was part of the government’s Rationalization of Government Agencies and Public Expenditure (RAPEX) initiative, which merged the Uganda Allied Health Examinations Board (UAHEB) and the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examinations Board (UNMEB) into a single entity.

Mandate and Responsibilities

UHPAB is responsible for the assessment and certification of health professionals in Uganda, specifically those under technical and vocational education and training. This includes overseeing examinations and awarding diplomas and certificates for programs in nursing, midwifery, and allied health at both diploma and certificate levels.

Leadership

The Executive Secretary of UHPAB is Mrs. Helen M. Kataratambi, who previously served in the same capacity at UNMEB.

Services and Operations

UHPAB offers various services, including:

  • Student Registration: Managing the registration process for students undertaking relevant health programs.

  • Examination Coordination: Organizing and administering semester examinations.

  • Certification: Issuing diplomas and certificates to successful candidates.

  • E-Services: Providing online services such as document certification and verification.

For instance, the board scheduled the registration of candidates for the June 2025 semester examinations from April 14 to May 9, 2025.
