Established in 2024, the school is dedicated to providing quality secondary education to both students with disabilities and those without, fostering an environment of inclusivity and equal opportunity.

Academic Programs

The school commenced its operations in February 2024 with an inaugural class of 14 Senior One students, including:

  • 6 students with visual impairments,

  • 1 student with cerebral palsy,

  • 3 students with physical disabilities, and

  • 4 non-disabled students.

This diverse cohort exemplifies the school’s commitment to inclusive education, aiming to expand its capacity to accommodate hundreds more students with varying abilities in the coming years.

Facilities and Support

St. Mary Goretti Secondary School is equipped with facilities designed to cater to the needs of students with disabilities, ensuring accessibility and a conducive learning environment. In April 2025, MTN Uganda contributed resources to empower visually impaired students at the school, enhancing their educational experience.

The school’s establishment and ongoing development have been made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Lira Catholic Diocese, ICEF, Imara-Uganda Education Fund, and other stakeholders committed to advancing inclusive education in Uganda.
