About Company
Bishop Barham University College (BBUC) is a constituent college of Uganda Christian University (UCU), located in Kabale, southwestern Uganda. Established in 1924 as a theological training school, it has evolved into a comprehensive institution offering diverse academic programs while maintaining its Christian foundation.
📜 History & Mission
BBUC began as a Normal School founded by Drs. S. Smith and L. Sharp of the Rwanda Mission (CMS), focusing on training vernacular teachers and lay readers. In 2006, it was approved by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) as a constituent college of UCU, making it the first constituent college of a private chartered university in Uganda. The college played a significant role in the East African Revival movement of the 1930s, emphasizing spiritual renewal and community transformation .
🎓 Academic Programs
BBUC offers a range of academic programs across various disciplines:

Undergraduate Degrees: Programs include Business Administration, Education, Theology, Journalism and Mass Communication, among others.

Postgraduate Degrees: Offerings include Master of Business Administration, Master of Social Work and Social Administration, Master of Arts in Translation and Language Development, and Master of Arts in Development Studies.

Diploma and Certificate Courses: Available in fields such as Human Resource Management, Project Planning, Public Administration, Education, Christian Ministry, and Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling
The college operates on three intakes annually: Easter (January), Trinity (May), and Advent (September)

👩🏫 Leadership
Dr. Alice Jossy Kyobutungi Tumwesigye serves as the Principal of BBUC. Appointed in 2021, she is the first female principal of the college. Dr. Kyobutungi holds a PhD in Literature and has a rich background in academia, having previously served at Bishop Stuart University. Under her leadership, BBUC has seen infrastructural improvements and a focus on academic excellence
