Rift Valley Institute of Business Studies (RVIBS)
Overview
Rift Valley Institute of Business Studies (RVIBS) is a registered Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution in Kenya. The main campus is in Nakuru, near the Nakuru Railways Police Station. It began as a hairdressing school in Kericho before relocating and expanding in Nakuru around 2008. Since then, it has grown into a multi-campus institution.

Campuses
RVIBS operates multiple campuses including Nakuru (main campus), Njoro, Gilgil, and Kericho, with plans for further expansion into more counties in Kenya.

Business Studies: Business management, banking & finance, entrepreneurship, secretarial studies, and supply chain.
Engineering: Electrical installation, plumbing, welding, architecture, mechanical and automotive engineering.
ICT & Computer Studies: Programming, computer support, web design, ICT packages.
Cosmetology / Beauty & Fashion: Hair & beauty therapy, fashion design, dressmaking, interior design.
Hospitality, Tourism & Catering: Food & beverage production, catering, accommodation, tourism operations, event management.
Health & Applied Sciences: Courses in nursing, pharmacy, medical lab technology, and other health sciences.
Programs range from artisan certificates to diplomas, depending on the course and level of study.
Accreditation & Affiliations
RVIBS is recognized under Kenya’s TVET regulatory framework and serves as an accredited examination center for bodies such as the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC). Some programs are also aligned with international exam bodies like City & Guilds and ICM. In health sciences, the institution aligns with professional regulatory bodies such as the Nursing Council, Pharmacy & Poisons Board, and the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists Board.
Innovation
RVIBS emphasizes practical and competency-based training. Students have worked on innovative projects, such as systems for remotely monitoring and controlling farm and greenhouse conditions, showcasing the institution’s focus on applied learning.
