About Company
The International Lifeline Fund (ILF) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization established in December 2003, dedicated to reducing human suffering by providing low-cost, scalable solutions that address basic needs like clean water and energy in vulnerable communities across Sub-Saharan Africa and Haiti.
🌍 Mission & Vision
ILF’s mission is to empower communities by delivering sustainable access to clean water and energy, thereby improving health, reducing environmental degradation, and promoting economic self-sufficiency. The organization emphasizes cost-effective interventions that are culturally appropriate and community-driven.
💧 Core Initiatives
-
ClearWater Program
ILF constructs freshwater wells and implements affordable maintenance systems to ensure long-term functionality. This initiative has provided over 260,000 individuals with access to clean drinking water, significantly reducing waterborne diseases and the time spent, especially by women, in fetching water. -
Fuel-Efficient Cookstoves
To combat the health and environmental issues caused by traditional open-fire cooking, ILF develops and distributes fuel-efficient stoves. These stoves reduce wood consumption by up to 70% and lower smoke emissions, benefiting over 900,000 refugees and rural villagers. In Uganda, the “Okelo Kuc” stove has become a symbol of peace and efficiency in households. -
Solar Electrification
ILF introduces solar energy solutions to off-grid communities, enhancing access to lighting and power, which supports education, health services, and economic activities. -
COVID-19 Response
In response to the pandemic, ILF adapted its programs to include health education, distribution of hygiene kits, and support for healthcare facilities to mitigate the spread of the virus.
📍 Countries of Operation
ILF operates in several countries, including:
-
Uganda
