Shannon Rae Bex was born on March 22, 1980 in Gresham, Oregon.  From a very young age, she trained in ballet and later expanded her dance repertoire to lyrical, modern, jazz, and hip hop.  By her late teens, Shannon’s talent had already led her to become a cheerleader for the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers — a role she held for five seasons. 

That early grounding in performance set the stage for her next move: a participation in the 2003 NBC reality show Fame, where she finished as runner-up.  It was just a preview of what was to come — soon after, she auditioned for Making the Band 3, the MTV competition that would launch the girl group Danity Kane.
