Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed four regional commissioners and transferred six others in a reshuffle affecting regional leadership across the country, according to an official statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communications at State House on August 27, 2026.
The statement, issued following an announcement by Chief Secretary Ambassador Dr Moses Kusiluka, said CP Salum Rashid Hamduni, who had been serving as Regional Administrative Secretary for Shinyanga, has been appointed Regional Commissioner for Mwanza.
President Samia also appointed Alexander Pastory Mnyeti as Regional Commissioner for Geita, Stanslaus Haroon Nyongo as Regional Commissioner for Pwani and Jumanne Abdallah Sagini as Regional Commissioner for Mbeya.
Alongside the new appointments, six serving regional commissioners have been transferred to other regions.
Martine Reuben Shigela has been moved from Geita to serve as Regional Commissioner for Manyara, while Said Mohamed Mtanda has been transferred from Mwanza to Simiyu. The State House statement said Mtanda takes over from Anamringi Macha, who has retired.
Abubakar Mussa Kunenge has been transferred from Pwani to become Regional Commissioner for Songwe. He replaces Jabiri Omari Makame, who, according to the statement, will be assigned other duties.
Beno Moris Malisa has moved from Mbeya to become Regional Commissioner for Tabora. The Presidency said Malisa replaces Paul Matiko Chacha, who was elected Secretary of the National Executive Committee responsible for the Organisation Department of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi, or CCM.
Adam Kighoma Malima has been transferred from Morogoro to serve as Regional Commissioner for Lindi, taking over from Zainab Telack, who has retired.
Queen Cuthbert Sendiga, meanwhile, has been transferred from Manyara to become Regional Commissioner for Morogoro.
The presidential changes also extend to regional administrative secretaries. Richard Marcellino Kayombo has been appointed Regional Administrative Secretary for Pwani, according to the State House statement.
Four other regional administrative secretaries have been transferred. Balandya Mavuganya Elikana moves from Mwanza to Mbeya, while Dr Fatuma Ramadhan Mganga has been transferred from Singida to Mwanza.
Pili Hassan Mnyema has been moved from Pwani to serve as Regional Administrative Secretary for Shinyanga, and Rodrick Lazaro Mpogolo has been transferred from Mbeya to Singida.
The Directorate of Presidential Communications said the formal handover process involving the appointed and transferred regional commissioners and regional administrative secretaries will take place on dates to be announced later.
