Choma District Women’s Development Association (Choma DWDA) is a rural, women-led CSO in Southern Province, Zambia. Following organizational capacity assessments under the LEAD project, key gaps were identified in governance, staff capacity, sustainability, and internal coordination. One major gap is in communication and visibility where Choma DWDA lacks a website, branding tools, and structured communication strategies, limiting its ability to engage stakeholders and attract partnerships. This consultancy will strengthen visibility and communication capacity as part of the project ‘Strengthening Internal Governance, Resource Mobilization and Communication Capacity of Choma DWDA’ (2025).

2. Objective of the Assignment

The overall objective of this consultancy is to strengthen the communication and visibility capacity of Choma DWDA by developing a Communication and Branding Strategy, designing and launching a website, producing an organizational profile, and creating branded visibility materials and impact stories for advocacy and stakeholder engagement.

Specific objectives:

·      Develop a practical Communications and Branding Strategy tailored to Choma DWDA’s mandate and resource context.

·      Deliver a responsive, easy‑to‑manage website with basic hosting guidance and staff training on content updates.

·      Produce a professional organisational profile suitable for digital distribution and print.

·      Design three posters and two pop‑up banners aligned with agreed branding.

·      Document five impact stories (500–700 words each) with quality photographs for publication.

3. Scope of Work

The Consultant will carry out the assignment through a series of interrelated tasks which includes:  

·      Take part in an Initial assessment and planning exercise to review organizational documents and communication practices for the development a detailed inception report, workplan and methodology.

·      Develop a comprehensive Communication & Branding Strategy aligned with Choma DWDA’s organizational priorities.

·      Design, develop and launch a functional and user-friendly website for Choma DWDA.

·      Develop a professional Organizational Profile (print and digital versions).

·      Design and produce 3 branded posters and 2 pop-up banners.

·      Document and produce 5 impact stories for publication on the website and other platforms.

4. Expected Deliverables

The consultant will be expected to produce the following deliverables within the consultancy period:

·      Inception report with workplan and methodology: This will outline the consultants understanding of the assignment

·       Communication & Branding Strategy document: This will provide a practical and user-friendly strategy aligned with Choma CZDA’s organizational priorities.

·      Fully functional website (with hosting and training for staff on updates): Designed, tested and launched accompanied by staff training and a user manual

·      Organizational profile in digital and print formats.

·       3 posters and 2 pop-up banners (ready-to-print format).

·      5 impact stories (500–700 words each with photos).

·       Final report summarizing the process, tools handed over and recommendations.

5. Duration of the Assignment

The consultancy is expected to run from September 20, 2025, with final deliverables submitted by October 30, 2025.

6. Reporting and Supervision

The Consultant will report directly to the Project Coordinator of Choma DWDA, with oversight from the Board Chairperson. Regular progress updates will be required, including weekly check-ins (via email or virtual calls) and milestone presentations. Validation meetings will be organised at key stages (strategy draft, website mock-up, and final outputs) to ensure alignment with expectations.

7. Required Qualifications and Experience

·      Proven experience in communication strategy development and branding.

·      Strong track record in website design and development for CSOs/NGOs.

·      Graphic design expertise for posters, banners and organizational profiles.

·      Excellent writing skills with experience in documenting success/impact stories.

·      Understanding of gender equality, community development, and civil society contexts in Zambia is an added advantage.

·      Strong facilitation and capacity-building skills, particularly in communication and visibility.

·      Ability to deliver high-quality outputs within tight deadlines.

8. Budget and Payment

The budget for this consultancy is drawn from the approved project ‘Strengthening Internal Governance, Resource Mobilization and Communication Capacity of Choma DWDA’ (Budget line: Communication & Visibility). Payment will be structured in tranches based on satisfactory delivery of outputs as per agreed contract.
