About the Job
The Generating Resilience and Environmental and Economic Networks and Uplifting People (GREEEN UP) Project officer is responsible for implementing project activities to restore Landscapes and build resilience of the most vulnerable communities in the Boke Districts in Ethiopia. The job holder is responsible for the Integrated livelihood, Environment & Nutrition program implementation in alignment with project model standards and local context. She/he is required to mobilize the community, facilitate target selection, and registration. She/he records and keeps all the necessary documents of the operations executed. Moreover, the GREEN UP project officer will actively engage communities in participatory planning, providing essential technical skills and knowledge, driving the on-the-ground implementation of the project activities, fostering the development of green enterprises, and diligently monitoring progress while collaborating with local stakeholders to ensure the project's objectives are achieved at the community level.
Key Responsibilities:
Project/Program Implementation:
Ensuring project activities are implemented effectively and efficiently, meeting deadlines and achieving desired results.
Compliance and Administration:
Ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures, as well as donor requirements.
Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to project activities.
Contributing to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the organization.
Technical
Provide hands-on technical support and facilitate capacity-building initiatives for communities and stakeholders on diverse regreening practices, sustainable agriculture, and/or rangeland management techniques, financial inclusion, market development, nutrition, including the establishment of demonstration sites and knowledge exchange, S4T groups, Producers group, and volunteers.
Execute field-level project activities according to work plans, monitor progress against targets, identify challenges, and collect relevant data to contribute to effective project implementation and reporting.
Identify and support opportunities for green and restoration-focused rural enterprises and income-generating activities, particularly for women and youth, facilitating linkages to value chains and markets.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with local leaders, community organizations, government partners, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and synergy in project implementation.
Collect accurate field data, contribute to regular project reports and documentation of lessons learned, and actively participate in knowledge sharing and adaptive management processes.
About You
Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification:
Qualification required: MSc/BSc in Natural resource management, Forestry, Environment, Rural development, Agroeconomics, and related fields. •
Experience: 5 years’ experience on field level implementation of integrated program, including Landscape Restoration, Agroforestry, FMNR, resilient rural livelihood, financial inclusion, and Market Development in INGOs Context. •
Working experience in community-led natural resource management, Economic Development, Nutrition, and exposure to evergreen agriculture, climate-smart agriculture, and degraded land management. •
Additional working experience on promotion, advocacy, and scale-up related activities.
Required Professional Experience:
Work environment: Office-based with frequent travel to the field
Travel: 60% Domestic.
