The Malawi Epidemiology and Intervention Research Unit (MEIRU) operates in Karonga District and Lilongwe City. The research programme is conducted in partnership with the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, the Malawi Ministry of Health, and international partners. MEIRU seeks to recruit for the following positions:

Vacancy Ref: 2025-03-GMST: Statistician/epidemiologist with an interest in maternal and child health

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious statistician or epidemiologist with good analysis skills to work on the Generation Malawi birth cohort data together with the Generation Malawi team. They will work with the MEIRU data team and research to ensure clean data and conduct the primary analysis of the Generation Malawi datasets. They will work on publications with an international team from Malawi and the UK.

Minimum requirements

• MSc in Biostatistics or Epidemiology
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Demonstrated competence in epidemiological and statistical analyses

This is a full-time (35 hours per week) post and individuals would be based in Lilongwe or Karonga, with travel as necessary to the other site.
