The Malawi Epidemiology and Intervention Research Unit (MEIRU) operates in Karonga District and Lilongwe City. The research programme is conducted in partnership with the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, the Malawi Ministry of Health, and international partners. MEIRU seeks to recruit the following position.

1. Vacancy Ref: 2025-01-GMPD: Postdoctoral Researcher with an interest in child neurodevelopment

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious doctoral scientist or social scientist to work on a project that will advance our understanding of early life experiences on the development of the child. The successful candidate will work with the Generation Malawi birth cohort team across all aspects of the study, but with particular responsibilities for the infant follow-up contacts. They will work closely with an international team from Malawi and the UK.

Minimum requirements

  • PhD in child neurodevelopment or other relevant topic
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • A willingness to supervise field work in Lilongwe and Karonga

This is a full-time (35 hours per week) post, and individuals would be based in Lilongwe or Karonga. The position would require frequent travel between sites.
