Job Vacancy Announcement (Driver)

Good Neighbors Ethiopia (GNE) is a humanitarian and non-governmental organization which is working on child sponsorship and community development activities for the last 25 years in Ethiopia since 1997. GNE is a Korea based organization re-registered here in Ethiopia as a charity organization with certificate No. of 1135 and governed by the rule and regulation of the Agency for Civil society Organizations.

Vacant Position: Driver

Responsible to: Admin and HR department

Term of Employment: Fixed for a period of one year with possibility extension based on performance and budget availability.

Duty Station(s): HO and Angollella Tera CDP Office

Required Number: Two (2) (One for Good Neighbors Ethiopia HO and One for Angollela Tera CDP)

Gender: male

Salary and Benefits: Based on the organizational scale

  • Education level 10th grade or 12 grade complete.

  • 3 years and more NGO experience as a Driver or similar role.

  • Can read and write Amharic and English

  • Some experience with report writing

  • Team player and willing to support project activities during his off time.

About You

Job Description for Driver:

Provide safe and secured transportation service at all the required time by making sure the vehicle is always clean, with all the required safety clearance and all mechanical care taken.

  • Provide security and escorting service all time

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, check the engine oil and oil of other parts, and change the tire, when needed.

  • Assure the safety of the vehicles before any movement by checking the required checkpoints,

  • Assure the cleanliness of the vehicle

  • Get proper preventive maintenance service for the vehicle according to schedule and adjust, lubrication and service time by not affecting day to day work,

  • Manage the vehicle logbook for fuel & lubricant usage, movement and mileage, and any malfunctions and accidents and report with the given reporting schedule,

  • Provide the required transportation and executive security service

  • Ensure that the company vehicle is always parked in areas that permit parking in order to avoid accident, penalty and towing,

  • Ensure all the necessary safety pre-conditions are met before getting onboard,

  • Responsible for equipment, tools, chains, spare tires placed in the vehicles and reports any changes,

  • Inform to the immediate supervisor about service, maintenance and other possible repairs needed in advance and fill in technical report,

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the line manager

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Commitment to the vision and mission of GNE.
  • Previous experiences with international NGOs and donors will be considered an asset.
  • Perfect knowledge of Ethiopian accounting, taxation and procurement rules/regulation;

  • Relevant experience Driver knowledge;

  • Highly motivated and able to work independently, taking initiative, setting priorities;

About You

  • The position requires a minimum of 10/12th Grade Complete and automobile driving license.
  • Proficient in both spoken and written English and Amharic.
  • Knowledge of local languages will be an advantage.
