Logistics Merchandiser – Roles & Responsibilities

1. Parcel Receiving & Verification

Receive incoming parcels from senders or partner outlets.

Verify tracking numbers, condition of parcels, and documentation.

Record all received parcels in the system.

2. Dispatch & In-Transit Management

Prepare parcels for dispatch to the next destination.

Update system records for parcels “in transit.”

Ensure proper handling to avoid damage or misplacement.

3. Customer Handover

Manage parcel collection by customers.

Verify customer identity and tracking numbers before release.

Obtain proof of collection (signature or digital confirmation).

4. System Updates & Tracking

Accurately input parcel statuses: Received → Dispatched → Collected.

Monitor and report discrepancies (missing or delayed parcels).

Ensure data accuracy for customer tracking.

5. Stock & Inventory Control

Maintain order in storage areas for easy retrieval.

Track volumes of incoming and outgoing parcels.

Report shortages, excesses, or damaged goods.

6. Customer Service Support

Assist customers with parcel inquiries.

Handle complaints and escalate issues when needed.

Provide clear information on parcel locations/status.

7. Compliance & Accountability

Follow company policies and safety standards.

Ensure parcels are insured and handled with care.

Maintain accountability for all parcels under their control.

Qualifications

Must be a government worker with a valid recommendation letter (for remote towns, except Lusaka).

Must own and operate a smartphone or laptop for system updates and tracking.

Basic computer literacy and ability to use parcel tracking systems.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and accountability.
