Reporting To: General Manager
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Agro-Commodity Operations Lead to oversee the end-to-end operations of our commodity value chain. The role involves managing sourcing, logistics, warehousing, quality control, and documentation processes to ensure smooth, efficient, and compliant movement of agricultural commodities from farm gate to market (local and export).
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain & Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations across procurement, processing, warehousing, and distribution of agro commodities.
- Manage logistics planning, including transport scheduling, route optimization, and delivery tracking.
- Ensure timely execution of export/import processes in compliance with regulations.
Sourcing & Procurement Support
- Work with procurement teams to manage farmer and supplier relationships.
- Monitor commodity availability, pricing trends, and market demand.
- Support aggregation and bulk purchasing strategies.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all commodities meet company and international quality standards.
- Supervise grading, cleaning, packaging, and storage procedures.
- Monitor compliance with health, safety, and agricultural regulations.
People & Process Leadership
- Lead and coordinate field operations staff, warehouse teams, and logistics partners.
- Train, mentor, and monitor team performance.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operational efficiency.
Reporting & Analytics
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, shipments, and transactions.
- Prepare operational reports, including cost analysis, loss prevention, and process improvements.
- Track KPIs related to supply chain performance and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in agro-commodity operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
- Strong knowledge of agricultural commodities (e.g., grains, cocoa, sesame, cashew, etc.).
- Proven experience in export documentation and international trade regulations.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP/supply chain software.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Nigerian agricultural value chains and rural sourcing systems.
- Experience working with smallholder farmers and cooperatives.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and travel frequently to field/warehouse locations.
Compensation:
- Travel allowance outside the State
