The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the company’s financial strategy and operations.
This includes planning for growth, managing financial risks, overseeing accounting and compliance, and guiding investment decisions. The role also involves monitoring performance, ensuring tax and audit obligations are met, and supporting capital-raising efforts to help the business expand.
Provide strategic leadership in developing both short- and long-term financial objectives to enhance business performance.
Evaluate existing financial plans and recommend adjustments where necessary, particularly in cases of underperformance.
Supervise all finance and accounting operations within the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Oversee financial risk management strategies, including ensuring adequate insurance coverage and mitigation measures are in place.
Assess the fiscal impact of long-term investments, new products, strategic initiatives, and regulatory changes.
Monitor cash flow, expenses, cost controls, and financial reports, offering insights and guidance for improvement.
Collaborate with investment advisors to optimize portfolio performance and advise management on maximizing returns.
Ensure the timely implementation of investment plans approved by the Board of
Directors and provide performance feedback for evaluation.
Offer expert advice on financial trends and developments affecting the industry, recommending adjustments to financial planning as needed.
Lead efforts to identify and pursue opportunities for raising additional capital to support expansion.
Ensure all financial operations comply with relevant industry regulations and professional standards.
Oversee the company’s tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of statutory obligations.
Direct internal and external audit activities, ensuring timely implementation of audit recommendations.
Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by the CEO from time to time.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Certified Public Accountant – (CPA-K)
Active member of ICPAK in good standing
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification
ICIFA membership is preferred
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior finance role, preferably within the capital markets industry
In-depth knowledge of Capital Markets Authority (CMA) regulations applicable to investment banks
Strong grasp of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other relevant financial reporting frameworks
Proven leadership and team management capabilities
Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and inform strategic decision-making
