JOB DESCRIPTION
Tilitonse Foundation aims at increasing capacity of Non-State Actors and actively promoting citizen’s engagement in democratic governance and upholding citizen’s rights by the state. It mobilizes and provides funds to Civil Society for the promotion and enhancement of good governance and development in Malawi. It supports NSAs to play a role in consolidation and upscaling good governance.
The Foundation believes that increased capacity of NSAs and promoting levels of citizen engagement in democratic governance are important catalysts for increased accountability, responsiveness, and inclusivity of the state and other service providers. Tilitonse Foundation is strategically positioned as a catalyst for CSO engagement in promoting and advocating for societal transformation through catalyzing more accountable, inclusive, and responsive governance and development.
Reporting to the Capacity Development and Mentoring Specialist, the Capacity Development and Mentoring Officer will be responsible for developing and coordinating capacity development and mentoring initiatives for Tilitonse Foundation and the grant partners.
Develop concept notes and training materials and implement capacity development activities for the Grant Partners.
Undertake capacity needs assessment to identify capacity development needs of the Grant Partners, and recommend appropriate capacity development measures with the Foundation’s capacity development approach and execute them.
Support the management of capacity development service providers.
Operationalize capacity development initiatives for the Foundation.
Design innovative programs to develop the capacity of Grant Partners.
Design capacity development assessment and evaluation tools, including e-learning platforms for use in the Foundation operations.
Undertake evaluation of the effectiveness of capacity development and other development activities of the Foundation.
Contribute to the development and/or updating of the Foundation’s Capacity Development Strategy.
Carry out any capacity development related tasks for the Foundation and grant partners.
University Degree or equivalent in education, development studies, economics, social science, management, or other related field.
At least three years of relevant experience in capacity development, especially in a development and/or grant-related institution.
Proficiency in use of computer packages such as MS Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to lead and work effectively with interdisciplinary teams with minimal supervision.
Innovative, assertive, and positive attitude towards work and the team.
Experience working with donors and in grant-making institutions is essential.
Good interpersonal and communication skills in English and Chichewa.
