Position Overview:
As a Engineering Costing engineer, you will be responsible for assessing the water flow patterns and behaviour around the dam to create effective drainage systems to insure the stability of the dam structures.

Duties and Responsibilities

Here are some key duties:
Cost Estimation and Budgeting
Before construction begins, the costing engineer prepares detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and services based on project designs and specifications. They consider market prices, potential price fluctuations, and negotiate supplier terms to create a realistic budget for the project . This includes developing cost models and pricing methodologies to guide

Monitoring and Controlling Costs
During construction, the engineer tracks actual expenditure against the planned budget. They continuously monitor costs, identify variances, and recommend corrective measures to avoid overruns. This includes verifying invoices, payments to contractors, and ensuring resource allocation aligns with the budget

Risk Management
Costing engineers identify financial risks such as material price hikes, design changes, delays, or unexpected site conditions. They develop mitigation strategies, including contingency budgets, to manage these risks and protect the project from cost overruns

Reporting and Analysis
They produce detailed cost reports, progress reports, and forecasts for project managers, stakeholders, and clients. This provides transparency on financial performance and guides decision-making throughout the project lifecycle

Operational Support
They may assist in feasibility studies, bid preparation, supplier evaluation, inventory management, and implementing project management or cost estimation software tools such as Primavera or CostX for accurate tracking

Qualifications and Experience

-Professional Experience: Several years of experience in drainage systems design and construction is often necessary.
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant field; advanced certifications like CCP are advantageous
•Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
•Proficiency with cost estimation software and project management tools.
•Effective communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
•Knowledge of engineering processes, construction methods, and regulations.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with stakeholders.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local, state, and federal drainage regulations and standards.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex drainage issues.
Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as those from professional engineering organizations, can be beneficial.
Minimum 4 years of working experience in Civil /mechanical engineering , with a strong focus on construction applications.
