Duration of the contract

  • 24 months (2 years) with 3 months initial probationary period (Renewable Annually)

Duties & Responsiblities:

  • Supporting the planning,  coordination and management of the Partnership & Local Rights Programme (P&LRP) implementation;
  • Providing program operations and management support for the Partnership & Local Rights Programme for both sponsorship and programme components;
  • Ensuring implementation of the programme in accordance with the design, strategic focus and priorities set by ActionAid Nigeria;
  •  Ensure mainstreaming of HRBA, R-A, PRRP and any other tool or approaches designed in the programme;
  • Ensure effective, efficient and quality delivery of all programme activities;
  • Manage project operations, administration, finances, and logistics, and liaise directly with other project staff, Volunteers, stakeholders, partners and other organization staff that are or maybe involved in the programme;
  • Work directly with programme contacts and consultants to develop and monitor project scopes of work, budgets, and timelines;
  • Preparing, coordinating and submitting of qualitative activity, monthly, quarterly and annual  reports under the programme and monitoring work plans, budgets, as well as associated outcomes, deliverables and results/outputs;
  • Work closely with the programme and finance team and community volunteers to ensure qualitative output delivery;
  • Coordinate data collection for evidence based-advocacy and measuring of impact;
  • Ensure compliance with the conditions of the grant;
  • Ensuring follow-up activities;
  • Collecting data for Partners and Internal use
  • Support development of annual plan and budget for programme implementation at the LRP
  • Lead the design and implementation of activities related to Women’s Rights, Youth and Education and Natural Resources at LRP level
  • Support the development and activities of community-based networks and CBOs
  • Oversee the work of volunteers of programme work in the LRP
  • Build relationships with other NGOs and groups working in and around the LRP
  • Support connections with local government at the LRP
  • Work with the Actionaid Nigeria finance staff to ensure the effective use of LRP budgets implementing programme work

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

The role requires the Programme Officer to demonstrate integrity by acting with honesty and transparency, prioritizing organizational goals over personal gain. She/ He should exhibit professionalism through strong interpersonal skills, subject matter expertise, and the ability to meet deadlines while remaining composed under pressure. Humility and respect for diversity is essential, requiring inclusive collaboration and decision-making that values all backgrounds and perspectives. Effective communication is key, including clear writing and speaking, active listening, and fostering two-way dialogue. Strong teamwork skills are needed to work collaboratively, value others’ input, and prioritize team objectives. Additionally, the role demands strategic planning, accountability and technological adaptability.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Degree or Higher National Diploma from any recognized academic institution.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years working experience in development/ NGO work and at least 1 year in a similar position is an added advantage. 
  • IT Skills: Proficient in the use of computer applications – MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint etc
  • Languages: Fluency in both Hausa and English is essential.
