Position:            Human Resources Officer

About Liwiro Microfinance Limited

We are a growing duly licenced microfinance institution dedicated to providing affordable and accessible digital financial solutions to individuals and small and medium enterprises in Malawi.

Job Purpose

The Human Resources Officer will play a key role in supporting the strategic and operational HR functions of Liwiro Microcredit Limited. The position ensures the effective implementation of HR policies, staff recruitment, development, performance management and employee relations while fostering a supportive work culture aligned with the institution’s mission to empower undeserved Malawians through financial inclusion.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate the end-to-end recruitment process (job posting, screening, interviewing and selection).
  • Prepare job offers, employment contracts and orientation materials
  • Conduct new employee on-boarding and ensure proper documentation
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate employee files, HR databases and records
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
  • Monitor employee contracts, probation, leave days etc
  • Support the implementation of performance appraisal systems and KPIs
  • Support capacity building initiatives tailored to MFI operations
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee grievances and conflict resolution
  • Assist in developing and updating HR policies and employee handbook
  • Ensure that HR policies align with institutional values and strategic goals
  • Collaborate with finance on payroll processing
  • Administer employee benefits including health insurance, pensions and leave programme

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field
  • 5 years of experience in Human Resources Management with 3 years in leadership position preferably in the financial or microfinance sector
  • Good knowledge of labour laws and HR best practices

Key Relationships

Internal: All staff, Senior Management

External: Labour Office, Training Consultants, Insurance Providers

Renumeration: The company offers competitive benefits based on qualifications and experience. Starting salary range for this position is K500,000 to K800,000
