Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) is the state-owned enterprise responsible for railway operations in Uganda. Established in 1977 following the dissolution of the East African Railways Corporation, URC manages both freight and passenger services, as well as marine transport on Lake Victoria.

🔧 Ongoing Projects

URC is actively involved in several infrastructure projects aimed at revamping Uganda’s railway network:

  • Kampala–Mukono Concrete Sleeper Line: Upgrading the railway line to improve durability and performance.

  • Tororo–Gulu Railway Line Rehabilitation: Restoring the northern corridor to enhance connectivity.

  • Kampala–Malaba Meter Gauge Railway Refurbishment: In collaboration with the African Development Bank, this project focuses on improving the main line connecting Uganda to Kenya.
