About Company
The Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) is a government-owned parastatal under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives. Established by an Act of Parliament in 2003, UIRI serves as Uganda’s lead agency for industrialization, focusing on applied research, technology development, and business incubation to drive socio-economic transformation.

Mission: To catalyze Uganda’s socio-economic transformation through enhanced technology use.Vision: To be a model institution and center of excellence for industry incubation and self-financing research and development in Uganda and the region.

Value Addition & Product Development: Enhancing local raw materials into marketable products.

Business Incubation: Supporting startups through in-house and virtual incubation programs.

Pilot Processing Plants: Providing hands-on training facilities and producing ready-to-use products.

Technology Transfer: Adapting and fabricating technologies to support local enterprises.

Analytical Laboratory Services: Offering product analysis and development support through industrial chemistry and microbiology labs.

Skills Training: Providing training in areas such as mechanical engineering, renewable energy, ICT, and various processing technologies.
