Medical Teams International (MTI) is a faith-based humanitarian organization that has been operating in Uganda since 2004. Their mission is to provide life-saving medical care to refugees and vulnerable communities, addressing both immediate health crises and long-term health system strengthening.

Primary Health Care Access: MTI operates clinics within refugee settlements, ensuring that both refugees and host communities have access to essential health services.Maternal and Child Health: They provide prenatal care, safe labor and delivery support, and have established neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in refugee settlements to care for premature newborns.

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support: Recognizing the trauma faced by refugees, MTI offers mental health services to help individuals cope and recover.

Partnerships and Funding
MTI is the lead health partner for the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Uganda. They collaborate with the Ugandan government and other international organizations to deliver health services. In recent years, they have received substantial grants from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) to strengthen health care services in Uganda .
