About Company

Latitude Trade Company (LTC), also known as Latitude Craft Chocolate, is a vertically integrated social enterprise based in Uganda. Established in 2016 by Jeff Steinberg, LTC focuses on producing specialty cocoa and bean-to-bar chocolate at origin, aiming to improve the livelihoods of smallholder cocoa farmers across Uganda .

Mission and Operations

LTC’s mission is to create sustainable, traceable, and transparent supply chains that benefit local communities. The company works directly with over 5,000 certified organic smallholder farmers, providing training, stable markets, and premium prices for their cocoa. Farmers deliver freshly harvested cacao to more than 70 rural collection points, where they are paid cash on delivery .

The collected cacao undergoes fermentation and drying at LTC’s facilities before being processed into chocolate products at their factory in Kampala. This bean-to-bar approach ensures full traceability and quality control throughout the production process .

Certifications and Impact

LTC is a Certified B Corporation, reflecting its commitment to social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability . The company also holds organic certifications under the US National Organic Program and the EU Organic Certification.

By integrating the entire cocoa value chain, LTC not only produces high-quality chocolate but also generates employment opportunities and supports community development initiatives in Uganda .
