Koolboks has established a presence in Uganda, offering solar-powered refrigeration solutions tailored for off-grid communities and small businesses. In 2023, Koolboks registered its Ugandan subsidiary to expand its operations within the country. The company aims to provide sustainable off-grid cooling solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas, such as food shops and restaurants, allowing them to increase sales and boost productivity.

With financial support from the Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa (BGFA), Koolboks plans to expand its business operations across Uganda, including the underserved districts of Ngora and Buyende in the eastern part of the country. The aim is to establish and service up to 3,300 energy service subscriptions in the coming four years.

Koolboks products in Uganda include solar-powered freezers with integrated ice battery technology, allowing for extended cooling periods without sunlight. These units also feature USB charging ports and LED lighting, enhancing their utility in off-grid settings.
