Imagine Her (IH) is a non-governmental organization based in Kampala, Uganda, dedicated to empowering women, girls, and youth in rural communities through social entrepreneurship and leadership development. Founded in 2015, IH employs a human-centered approach to address systemic barriers such as economic dependency, limited access to education, and gender inequality.
Mission and Vision
IH’s mission is to collaborate with communities to unlock the potential of women, girls, and youth, preparing them to be active leaders and social entrepreneurs who create sustainable solutions within their communities. The organization focuses on providing tools and resources that foster socio-economic independence and drive positive social change.
Core Programs

Social Enterprise & Innovation Program (SEIP): A six-month incubation program offering training in design thinking, adaptive leadership, and social entrepreneurship. Participants receive mentorship and access to interest-free seed loans to launch their ventures.

Becoming Program: Targets primary and secondary school girls, fostering leadership skills through community service projects and experiential learning, aiming to reduce dropout rates and promote gender equality in education.

rePAD Initiative: Engages both men and women in menstrual health education, teaching the production of reusable sanitary pads to promote hygiene and reduce stigma.

Safe Mum Program: Focuses on maternal health by training community-based midwives to identify pregnancy danger signs and facilitate timely referrals, aiming to reduce maternal mortality rates.
Impact
Since its inception, IH has trained over 200 young women as social entrepreneurs, with a 100% graduation rate and a 90% business survival rate. Their initiatives have directly impacted more than 7,000 community members, providing economic opportunities and promoting health education. The Becoming Program has empowered over 3,500 individuals with reproductive and menstrual health information.
Leadership
Nathan Okiror, the founder and team leader of IH, brings personal experience and professional expertise to the organization. Raised by a single mother, his background fuels his passion for community empowerment. Nathan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Community Development from Kyambogo University and a postgraduate diploma in Social Work and Design Thinking. He is recognized as a community-change influencer and has been featured in various media outlets.
Partnerships and Recognition
IH collaborates with several organizations to amplify its impact, including the UNFCU Foundation, Segal Family Foundation, and Issroff Family Foundation. These partnerships support IH’s efforts in climate resilience, food security, and economic empowerment.
