The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Uganda Chapter is a non-governmental organization established in 1997. It is part of a pan-African network aimed at promoting gender equity and equality in education across Africa. FAWE Uganda focuses on enhancing opportunities for girls and women to access, complete, and benefit from quality education and skills training.

🎯 Mission and Focus Areas

FAWE Uganda’s mission is to enhance opportunities for girls to attain quality education and skills through sponsorship, social protection, institutional strengthening, and advocacy. Their key focus areas include:

• Education Support/Scholarships: Providing financial assistance for higher education, secondary, and tertiary levels.

• Protection: Addressing child protection and gender-based violence prevention and management.

• STEM/ICT: Promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Information and Communication Technology education.

• Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights: Educating and empowering adolescents on sexual and reproductive health.

• Economic Empowerment/Livelihood: Equipping individuals with skills for economic independence.

• Research and Advocacy: Conducting research to inform policies and advocating for gender-responsive education systems.

📋 Programs and Initiatives

FAWE Uganda implements various programs aimed at supporting girls and women in education, including:

• Higher Education Access Program (HEAP): Providing bursaries to academically able students from economically disadvantaged regions.

• FORBERG: Supporting academically talented but financially constrained students.

• SHARE: Addressing maternal health and education.

• VACiS: Creating safe environments in schools and communities to enhance children’s access, retention, and completion of school.

• REAL Fathers: Building capacity for early learning and play.

• SOCIAL INITIATIVE: Empowering communities through various educational and social programs.

• LEAP: Leadership and empowerment programs for young women.

• ProSEVU: Promoting secondary education for vulnerable youth.

• STAFF Bursary: Supporting girls through contributions from FAWE Uganda staff members
