Compassion International has been actively serving children and families in Uganda since 1980, partnering with over 485 local churches to support more than 142,000 children across the country.
Mission and Approach
Compassion International’s mission is to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. They achieve this by implementing a holistic child development model that addresses the spiritual, physical, economic, educational, and socio-emotional needs of children.
Key Programs and Services

Child Sponsorship Program: For $43 per month, sponsors provide children with access to nutritious food, clean water, medical care, educational assistance, job skills training, and spiritual guidance.

Survival Program: This initiative supports pregnant mothers and infants by offering prenatal care, delivery support, postnatal checkups, nutritional assistance, and emotional support during the critical first year of life.

Youth Development: Compassion provides vocational training, mentorship, and leadership development opportunities to empower youth and prepare them for a self-sufficient future.

Leadership
As of January 1, 2024, Emmanuel Ahimbisibwe serves as the National Director of Compassion International Uganda. He brings extensive experience in child development and has held various roles within the organization since 2005.
