Aitenga Women Empowerment Organisation

Aitenga Women Empowerment Organisation is a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Uganda, dedicated to uplifting women and transforming communities through sustainable development initiatives. Established in 2016 as the charity arm of Aitenga Uganda, the organization focuses on empowering women, particularly single mothers and young women, by providing them with skills, education, and opportunities to achieve self-reliance.

Mission and Vision

Aitenga’s mission is to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where individuals, especially women and youth, can overcome barriers of limited resources and boldly pursue their dreams. The organization believes in the power of transformation through hands-on skills training, business knowledge, and personal development, guiding individuals from disadvantaged communities toward self-discovery, confidence, and lasting empowerment.

Core Programs and Initiatives

Aitenga implements various programs aimed at fostering self-reliance and holistic development:

• Skills Training: Offering vocational training in areas such as tailoring and crafts to equip women with marketable skills.

• Educational Support: Providing scholarships and educational resources to vulnerable individuals to enhance their academic pursuits.

• Entrepreneurial Support: Assisting women in developing business acumen and providing support for small-scale enterprises.

• Career Guidance Workshops: Conducting workshops to help youth navigate educational pathways and career options, addressing the high unemployment rate among graduates in Uganda.

Aitenga is headquartered in Mugongo A Village, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District, Uganda. They also operate gift shops in Kampala and Jinja, promoting products made by the women they support.
