About Action Against Hunger in Nigeria
Action Against Hunger (also known as Action Contre la Faim, ACF) is an international humanitarian organization with decades of experience fighting hunger and malnutrition. Its mission is to save lives and build resilient communities through nutrition, health, clean water and sanitation, livelihoods, emergency relief, and advocacy.
History & Presence in Nigeria
Began operations in Nigeria in 2010 to address chronic malnutrition, particularly in the north.
Expanded rapidly in response to conflict, displacement, and food insecurity in the northeast, northwest, and flood-affected areas.
Today, it is one of the key humanitarian actors providing large-scale support across the country.
Geographic Focus
ACF’s programs focus mainly on high-need states, such as:
Borno and Yobe (northeast): Conflict, displacement, and high malnutrition rates.
Sokoto (northwest): Health, nutrition, WASH, and emergency response.
Jigawa and Kano: Partnerships with state governments on food security, social protection, and health systems.
Other flood-affected and displaced communities nationwide.
