The Financial Technologies Service Providers Association (FITSPA) is Uganda’s leading nonprofit, member-based organization representing the fintech sector. Founded in 2017, FITSPA serves as the umbrella body for both local and international fintech companies and stakeholders operating in Uganda, with a mission to build a thriving, safe, and regulated fintech ecosystem .

Core Activities and Programs




  • Advocacy & Policy Engagement: FITSPA actively represents its members in regulatory and legislative discussions. For instance, it recently submitted an alternative policy proposal to Uganda’s Parliament opposing a centralized payments gateway for gaming and betting transactions, advocating instead for a decentralized digital payments framework .




  • Annual Fintech Conference: FITSPA organizes an annual conference that brings together fintech stakeholders to discuss industry trends and innovations. The 2025 conference, themed “Fintech for Sustainable Growth: Innovations, Investments & Inclusion,” is scheduled for October 7–8, 2025 .




  • FinTalks & Sector Forums: Regular events such as FinTalks provide platforms for discussions on topics like compliance, capital markets, and cybersecurity, offering members insights into regulatory expectations and best practices .




  • Youth & Women Empowerment Programs: FITSPA runs initiatives aimed at empowering underrepresented groups in fintech. The FITSPA Youth program focuses on equipping young people with digital finance skills, while FITSPA Women aims to bridge the gender gap in the fintech sector .
