The International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) is a global non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing agricultural productivity and food security through innovative research, market development, and strategic partnerships. In Uganda, IFDC has been instrumental in implementing various initiatives aimed at improving soil health, increasing crop yields, and strengthening market systems to benefit smallholder farmers.

? Key Initiatives in Uganda


One of IFDC's notable projects in Uganda is the Building Resilience and Inclusive Growth of Highland Farming Systems for Rural Transformation (BRIGHT) project. This initiative focuses on enhancing the resilience and productivity of highland farming systems by:





  • Promoting sustainable agricultural practices




  • Strengthening farmer cooperatives and savings groups




  • Facilitating access to quality inputs and markets




  • Building capacity through training and extension services




The BRIGHT project operates in regions such as Kigezi, Mt. Elgon, and Rwenzori, aiming to empower over 100,000 farming households.
