National Social Security Fund (NSSF)

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Uganda is a quasi-government agency responsible for collecting, managing, and distributing retirement savings for private-sector employees not covered by the government pension scheme. Established under the NSSF Act, Cap 222, it operates as a provident fund and is regulated by the Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority (URBRA) .

The Fund is overseen by a Board of Directors appointed by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development .







? Contributions & Benefits




  • Contribution Rates: Employers contribute 10%, and employees contribute 5% of the employee's gross monthly wage.




  • Benefits Offered:





    • Age Benefit: For members who have reached the retirement age of 55.




    • Withdrawal Benefit: For members aged 50 who have been out of regular employment for at least one year.




    • Invalidity Benefit: For members who have become incapable of gainful employment.




    • Survivor's Benefit: Paid to the dependent survivors of a deceased member.




    • Emigration Grant: For members leaving Uganda permanently .
