Hivos
Hivos (Humanist Institute for Development Cooperation) is an international development organization founded in 1968 and headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands. Guided by humanist values, Hivos collaborates with civil society organizations to promote just, inclusive, and sustainable societies. Their work focuses on three main impact areas:
Climate Justice: Advocating for equitable and rights-based climate action.
Civic Rights in a Digital Age: Protecting civic freedoms and fostering inclusive public discourse in digital spaces.
Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion: Empowering marginalized groups, including women and LGBTQI+ communities, to claim their rights and leadership roles.
Hivos operates in over 40 countries through regional hubs located in East Africa, Southern Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East & North Africa (MENA). Each hub tailors programs to regional contexts, working closely with local partners to implement initiatives that align with Hivos's mission.
