About Company
Redeem International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting widows and orphans in Uganda from violent abuse and exploitation, particularly focusing on land theft—a prevalent issue in rural communities where land signifies survival and security.
Mission and Approach
Established in 2020 by Jesse Rudy, a former International Justice Mission (IJM) leader, Redeem International builds upon a successful pilot project initiated in Central Uganda in 2009. This project led to an 80% reduction in land theft rates, demonstrating the effectiveness of their model. The organization collaborates closely with local law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, and social services to:
-
Prosecute perpetrators of land theft and violence
-
Restore stolen property to rightful owners
-
Rehabilitate survivors through social and legal support
Their theory of change posits that effective law enforcement creates deterrence, which fosters safety, ultimately enabling prosperity for vulnerable populations.
